Established
in 1967 The Marisco is one of the longest running nightclubs
in the U.K. it has seen many changes and been updated many times
over the years and for a long time now has been well established
as North Devon’s premier nightclub.
The relevance of its success is down to a number of things which
make it unique. Being situated in woolacombe, an unspoiled beach
town on one of the nicest stretches of coastline in the country,
few other venues create that out of town no pretence atmosphere
where no one really cares where you’re from and who you
know, people just come to listen to quality music and have a
good time. Another key factor is always avoiding the mainstream
pop music which most other clubs in the area play and sticking
to the more cult, urban side of the music scene, wether it be
the rock, punk, ska vibe of a Friday night, the hiphop &
breaks night on a Thursday, the funk, soul, latin, jazz on a
Wednesday the rotation of house, nu-skool breaks and Drum&Bass
on the Saturday night which are all in place now, The Marisco
has always been about what should be the most important thing
for any nightclub, the music.
